Natural Resources Stewardship Programme (NatuReS) for Growth
© GIZ
The project applies a stewardship approach, empowering all users of natural resources to assume responsibility for available resources and develop joint solutions for their sustainable use.
It supports the establishment of partnerships between actors of the private sector, public authorities and civil society. The project acts as a moderator between the various actors and establishes a basis of trust, thereby helping to increase the success of cooperation and preventing conflict.
The partnerships jointly identify and develop measures to preserve natural resources, to which the private sector makes a significant contribution. The project provides expert advice and supports the introduction of national and international standards on the management of natural resources.
Applying a stewardship approach, the project is a continuation of the International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP).
The measures are implemented in close collaboration with bilateral and regional German development cooperation projects.
Other cooperation partners are the United Nations CEO Water Mandate, the Alliance for Water Stewardship and the Water Integrity Network.
Objective:
The social and economic risks caused by the growing scarcity or endangerment of natural resources are reduced.
